The 2012 Pony Club Championships East took place in Lexington, VA. Members qualified in Games, Show Jumping, Eventing, Polocrosse, Quiz, Tetrathlon, or Dressage. Here are some interesting numbers from this year’s Championships.

Answer: 1417 – 864 = 553. 553 member competed in this year’s event.
2. To find out how many regions were represented, from Virginia to California and Alaska, do the division.
Answer: 186 ÷ 6 = 31. 31 Regions were represented.
3. Add the following numbers to find the farthest distance in miles traveled by one of the competitors from the Alaska Region.
Answer: 1043.2 + 2368.1 + 872.3 = 4,283.6. The farthest distance in miles was traveled by Sophia Hogg and her fan club came to compete in Quiz. She traveled 4,283.6 miles.
4. To find out how many full time volunteers were required to host the Championships East, find the product.
Answer: 15 x 10 = 150. It took 150 full time volunteers to carry out the event.
5. To find out how many officials were hired to judge and score competitors during the event, calculate the answer to the following question:
Answer: (25 x 2) – 37 = 13. 13 officials were hired to score the event.
6. Pony Club members must be 10 years old to compete but graduate from Pony Club at age 25. How much is the age difference between the oldest and youngest competitors?
Answer: 15
